A Color Filled Michigan Wedding
A real life, summer sunshine wedding full of personality and spunk!
Hello, COLOR, we love to see you in a wedding day! Abigail and Sam’s greenhouse wedding in Michigan was the dream when it comes to down to earth + color filled weddings.
Knowing Abigail & Sam, I wanted to approach their day with joy, quirky portraiture, and spunk. It was an easy thing to do as their wedding energy was FANTASTIC. With an emphasis on that line between imagery that is casual & still intentional, this day unfolded like a dream.
Enter Abigail, an iconic blend of bridal elegance & spunk. She seamlessly brought together a classic slicked back hollywood hair look with personal touches like colorful makeup & nails.
And Samuel, who rocked a thrifted wedding suit, and gave his groomsman broaches in place of boutonnieres. He & his guys brought a super relaxed feeling into getting ready together.
CAN WE TALK ABOUT THESE PORTRAITS? Outta the park these two.
Abigail & Sam wanted lots of film to document their wedding day, and the anologue tones really worked with them + the sunshine. We bounced around this magic little flower field for a bit right before their ceremony and I love what came from it.
A little side note - let’s talk about relaxed wedding portrait sessions and why I love them. This is a great example of where that low key, real life feeling comes out of intentional time together. We really had a great setup here, as we had space to be solo (no pressure from onlookers!) Abigail and Sam were also simply having the time of their lives and leaned into this moment with their personalities and BAM! Wedding day magic!
Being a lover of candid weddings, I believe that the bulk of portraits in a wedding day should be made out of real moments and in-betweens. HOWEVER - that doesn’t mean a little time for curated portraits can’t be:
A) A great space for you and your love to connect in a busy day.
B) Create real feeling, authentic portraits that aren’t overly posed or corny.
C) Collaborate together in creating art! So fun!
Samuel and Abigail are both musicians, and the integration of their creativity into their wedding day was a 11/10. Their friends played a song Sam wrote for Abigail during the ceremony, they sang hymns together, and created an ambiance that was so clearly THEM.
They also highlighted their family so sweetly!
Hand painted signs, colorful decor, and a cutout of themselves (excuse me?) created one heck of a vibe for their wedding reception.
We quite literally ran out for about 5 minutes to catch a quick golden hour moment on film. Had to feature those midwest cornfields but could not miss the dance floor for a second too long!
The night continued on with a performance by Abigail & Sam themselves. The energy in the room was outta this world as their friends sang & danced along. An absolute dream! A wedding movie moment!
These sort of unscripted happenings create the best images, and I hope Sam & Abigail inspire you to put your real life selves into your wedding day! It’s the best for you, your guests, your memories, and your photos!
